Dr. Martin Munene Riara

Position: Senior Lecturer
Department: Basic Sciences
Faculty: Physical Sciences, Engineering and Technology
I am a senior Lecturer in the department of Basic sciences at Tharaka University, Kenya. I have an over 10-year research experience in the areas of bituminous materials for road construction, silicate materials for architectures and biodegradable polymer blends. Currently I am working on the following themes: Healing of bituminous materials for road construction, Waste tire rubber recycling in concrete paving blocks, Plasmonic behaviour of transition metals and radiation safety of unconventional construction materials.

Research Interests/Focus

  • 1. Sustainable and functional construction materials. 2. Radiation safety and Radiology of non-conventional construction materials. 3. Plasmonic behaviour of transition metals. 4. Biodegradable polymer composites.
PhD in Material science and Engineering: Wuhan University of Technology, PR China. Master of Science in Physics: Kenyatta University, Kenya. Bachelor of Education (Science): Moi University, Kenya.
